WSOP Champ Scott Blumstein 'Slumming It' Says Matusow

We may have advised Mike Matusow to take a permanent break from Twitter a few days ago, but Mike ‘The Mouth’ just can’t help himself, whether it’s serious stuff or joking around with fellow poker stars such as last year’s World Series Main Event champ Scott Blumstein, the $8.15 million winner pulled up by Mike for his choice of room for the night…

Of course, the Holiday Inn is hardly a flea-ridden motel – if you’re lucky that is – but with poker’s biggest stars used to the luxury of private jets, top-class hotels and being waited on hand-and-foot, the question is why Blumstein was slumming it with the masses?

The man who took the ultimate poker crown – or bracelet rather – in Vegas last summer, was in LA this time for a new televised cash game at the Gardens CasinoPokerBrat Phil Hellmuth among his opposition, with actors Jason Alexander and Kevin Pollak, actress Shelli Azoff, and poker commentator/comedian Joe Stapleton all getting in on the action.

The verdict of the fans watching on CBS at home may not be a thumbs-up yet for the show, but the players themselves seemed to enjoy the game…

It’s almost a dead-cert that ‘Big Phil’ wasn’t staying at – or even near – a Holiday Inn, a High-Stakes Living insight into his home showing that a search for toothpaste would not be on his agenda wherever he was sleeping.

Scott Blumstein, though an excellent player, is naturally not in Hellmuth’s league when it comes to earnings – and the taxman has a big say in where WSOP earnings go! – so, with many previous WSOP champs blowing their massive wins in short-order, maybe  Blumstein can be excused for not forking out $1000 a night for a bit of luxury!
