From the beginning of the final table, Brett Angell was the chip leader and this time his efforts were crowned with the title of UKIPT4 Grand Final champion. At UKIPT Nottingham in Season 2, he was close to a title but finished runner-up to Gareth Walker and the ÂŁ80,000 payday from that event was his biggest live cash until last night when he won the title and sweet ÂŁ115,083. Angell may have missed out on UKIPT title in Season 2, but this time he made sure of the victory. Heads up duel lasted close to two hours, but Brett Angel finally got his hands on Grand Final Trophy.

Brett defeated a field of 1,089 players who were all eyeing the trophy, but this time it was his turn for the Lady Luck to smile upon him.

Eliminations from the final table

First eliminated from the final table was Rasmus Agerskov with K-T against Mark James with pocket Sixes. Agerskov was drawing dead after the turn brought a set for James.

The only lady at the final table couldn’t hit as she moved all in with A-Q against Fuchs’s pocket Sixes that, once again, turned into a set on the river. Caicai Huang was eliminated in seventh place. She was followed by Vladimir Troyanovskiy in 6th for £23,800 as he ran his A-8 into Fuchs’ pocket Aces.

Angell had towers and towers of chips when he eliminated Nickolas Davies in fifth place for a prize of £32,500. Brett was well ahead with his A-K against Davies’ A-Q, and as the better hand held up, Davies was sent to the rail.

Mark James was ousted in 4th place by Fabrizio Fuchs who defended from the big blind with Q-3 suited. Flop brought a top pair for Fuchs and as James decided to overbet with the flush draw and Fuchs eventually made a correct call, it was lights out for James.

Sandro Mescola was eliminated in 3rd place by Brett Angell and for his efforts he took home ÂŁ56,500.

At this time, the deal was agreed between the two players, based on ICM calculations. With 12,425,000 in chips Brett Angell took home a guaranteed ÂŁ105,083 and Fabrizio Fuchs with 9,230,000 was guaranteed ÂŁ98,717.

In the final hand, Angell had A-K against Fuchs’s A-9 and as the best hand held up for Angell, he claimed the UKIPT Grand Final title. Fuchs started the day as the second shortest stack and he is probably content with how the things worked out in the end. Except for the title, Angell captured another £10,000 that was left to play for after the deal.

Brett plays poker recreationally and his interest in poker was first piqued by watching his brother grind. Playing poker as a hobby is pretty awesome, because you can live a balanced life and it takes away the stress of “having to perform well”. Of course, when you are a recreational player, you still have a big will to make a good score, but there is always a positive for you: if it’s not happening this month, then there’s still the next one. You can play tournaments or cash game according to your free time and you are not encumbered with how well you perform (or don’t) in any given period of time.
