When it comes to professional poker in Asia, Sam Razavi had proven time and time again that he is up there with the best of them.

That has been further demonstrated this week after the Philippines-based Englishman was named the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Player of the Year for 2014.

What’s more, the award marks the third straight year that Razavi has won the award.

The Player of the Year award came after another solid year on the felt for Razavi, where he did well in a number of events in the Philippines, Cambodia as well as the United Kingdom.

He began the year in a solid fashion when he came in second place in the High Roller event at the APT Cebu back in February. Razavi took home around US$18,299 for his performance at the event and showed all other Asian players that he would remain a force to be reckoned with in 2014.

It was further confirmed as Razavi made the final table in two other events at the APT Cebu. He then followed that performance with the first place finish at an event in England along with two other first place finishes at the APT Asian Series Cambodia, where he also made the final table at two other events.

As iff that was not enough, Razavi also came third at the APT Asian Series Manila Main Event in September, where he won US$35,137 for his solid performance. Razavi also made the final table in two other events at the series.

Razavi then solidified his place as the APT Player of the Year this week after he won a side event at the APT Resorts World Manila in which he won around US$11,000.

Although the majority of the live poker tournaments in Asia tend to be on the smaller side, the APT Player of the Year award is still a highly significant one, given the amount of talent that exists in the region.

The fact that Razavi has now won the award for the third time a row shows that he is a force to be reckoned with on the poker tables in Asia. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to capture the award a fourth straight time in 2015, but don’t be surprised if Razavi provides another brilliant run next year.
