The biggest poker tournament of the year has started in Las Vegas. The Big One for One Drop got 42 players to pony up one million dollars in its second incarnation. The invested money will go mostly towards the prize pool, but millions of dollars were also raised for the One Drop foundation that fights thirst in third world countries. The mixed field of top poker professionals and rich poker enthusiasts has been getting incredible media attention, and our team was there as always getting you the most exclusive interviews with some of the participants in the event.

Pokertube’s Rikard got to sit down for a few minutes with one of the game’s greats, the 2011 Poker Players Championship Champion, Brian “tsarrast” Rast. He got the two time WSOP bracelet winner to talk to him during a break at the Big One and Rast was doing pretty well at the moment, building his starting stack of 3 million to 3.9 during just few hours of play.

I feel really good about this tournament, I think the last time I had a deep run and I got sixth, but I feel like I’m gonna do something big

In the interview Brian talks about ways he prepares for such big events, his mental state at the start of this tournament, the amateur to pro ration in the Big One, his family, Brazil and the ongoing Soccer World Cup that is happening in his wife’s homeland at the moment.

At the 2012 WSOP Brian Rast also participated in the first incarnation of this biggest tournament in the world, and came in sixth, taking home $ 1.621.333.

While Rikard was catching up with Brian Rast, our Laura Cornelius got Dan Smith, another one of the poker elite players, to speak with her for a few minutes. The interview with the young American poker pro covered the topics of tournament preparation and using up the break time, playing poker against friends and the atmosphere surrounding the biggest poker game in the world.

Does it feel bad when they are your friends and you are taking their chips? No, I look forward to punishing them

Dan appeared to be very relaxed and happy with his progress, as he was already chipping up when Laura talked to him. Have a look at the interview to find out for yourselves what wisdom Dan Smith has to share during the Big One for One Drop.
