A 5-day cash-game-only festival, with different poker variants and buy-ins on offer, run in modern casinos, and livestreamed on TwitchTV…sounds amazing doesn’t it?
Having started in Tallinn, and visited London, the team behind the festival are now taking their fantastic idea to Malta on June 8th, where the Casino Malta by Olympic Casino will host five days of NLHE, PLO, Dealer’s Choice 9-game, the hugely popular 6+ Hold’em and Sviten Special, with stakes running from €2+€2 up to €10-€25.
With tables running 24 hours a day, all week long, the Cash Game Festival is the only event outside of the big US High Stakes Poker-type productions to allow ordinary cash game enthusiasts the chance to show their skills on live featured tables, the Malta stop bringing you the best of the action via the organiser’s Twitch TV channel.
What’s unique about the Cash Game Festival,” according to guts.com ambassador Silje Nilssen from Norway, “is that unlike the EPT or World Series…the cash game IS the Main Event.”
The Trondheim-based poker player added, “since it’s such a fun experience, cash games 24/7, parties…I would definitely recommend going to Malta! It’s sunny, it’s hot, it’s good food…it’s just awesome!”
The London stop in March was a massive success, and it’s because the men behind the festival – Enri Orav and Martin “Franke” von Zweigbergk – ensure that everything players need is on offer. The 24 hour cash tables in the Aspers super-casino were supplemented with down-time attractions such as cocktail evenings, beer and whisky tasting tours, and sports and games competitions.
“You might ask yourself: How the heck couldn’t someone have come up with this earlier? … a question the founders of Cash Game Festival also asked themselves,” as they state on their website, and it’s a great question.
“It’s something I think should have been done years ago!” said an excited Warren Lush at the London halt of the Cash Game Festival Tour.
“As for Malta, it sounds very exciting,” stated the Poker events marketer and PR expert, adding “There’s lots of partners on board, from all over the world, and there’s a lot of buzz around this tournament.”

The Malta leg will be looking to build on the Tallinn and London successes, with “fine dining and fierce partying” thrown into the mix – toasting successes and drowning sorrows always have to be catered for in poker!
Located in the heart of St. Julian’s, Casino Malta is the island’s largest and most modern casino, featuring 285 slots, two electronic roulette tables and 29 casino and poker tables, as well as a wide sports-betting area and the longest bar in Malta. To be perfectly honest, you’re not going to be stuck for something to do if you luck out at the cash tables.
Getting into the games itself is easy enough – secure your seat for a certain day, game, and buy-in by registering in advance. This will allow you to cut the lines, ensuring a faster service and direct access to the tables. Otherwise, just turn up and the Poker Managers at Casino Malta will register you on a first come first serve basis for your poker cash game of choice.
With the Cash Game Festival proving a hit so far, we at PokerTube are sending out our very own Rikard Aberg to join the fun and he’ll be regularly updating our FaceBook page with the best of the action both on and off the tables.
