Sunday May 29th, sees the start of the Super High Roller Bowl from the ARIA Resort and Casino – and with a full field of the world’s biggest and best ponying up $300,000 per head to play for the $5,000,000 top prize it is guaranteed to be a cracker, with CBS bringing all the action from the 4-day big-money extravaganza.

Professional nosebleed-stake regulars such as Daniel Negreanu, Scott Seiver and Antonio Esfandiari will be joined by the world’s top amateur high stakes players – the likes of Talal Shakerchi, David Einhorn and Bill Perkins all gunning for the massive prizemoney on offer.

And the addition of the CBS Sports Network coverage is a milestone in major poker tournament history—very rarely does a poker tournament outside of the WSOP find itself being broadcast live on a major television network and CBS have 30 hours of Live broadcast planned.

With the 49 player field sold out some three months in advance of the event, Clint Stinchcomb, CEO of Poker Central which will also be streaming and broadcasting the event said:

With some of the most exciting and famous players already locked in, the Super High Roller Bowl will be riveting to watch."

Given the names above, plus the likes of last year’s inaugural winner Super High Roller Bowl Brian Rast, Phil Hellmuth and Isaac Haxton, Stichcomb’s ‘some’ is a misnomer – there is almost nobody missing from the field that you would expect to be there!

I've never seen a high-stakes tournament sell out three months in advance," was Sean McCormack’s clearly surprised comment, the ARIA Director of Poker Operations adding, "It's unprecedented. We have a significant waiting list, too."

The $300,000 buy-in event is extra-attractive to the top players because not only is it rake-free (all the money goes towards prizes) but the sponsors have added an extra $300K to the overall prizepool.

Last year saw Brian Rast scoop over $7.5million – though with a $500K buy-in – and he will again be competing for the huge money on offer, some $15million being set aside for the final table of seven.

The top prize this year will be an impressive $5million, and the winner will also receive a one-of-a-kind Super High Roller Bowl Championship Ring, hand-crafted exclusively for the event.

With 14 seats reserved for "non-professional super high rollers", more than a quarter of the field will likely be wealthier than the highest tournament money-winning pro among the ranks, Daniel Negreanu.

Talal ‘raidalot’ Shakerchi, for example, took down the SCOOP high Main Event title last week for a $1.5million payday – but in ‘real-life’ he is a successful hedgefund manager –like both Perkins and Einhorn – and is reportedly worth over $400million.

Bill Perkins is also never far from the news whether it is poker or business related, with the friend of Dan Bilzerian often at the centre of bizarre and high stakes prop bets with Antonio ‘The Magician’ Esfandiari.

Bilzerian, however, is not on the start list – so the antics regularly enjoyed between many of the high-stakes crew may be somewhat subdued-especially with Esfandiari himself being DQ-ed at the PCA event this January as the result of a ‘prop bet-related urination incident’.

With 49 of the world’s best players vying for the title, my prediction is that ‘Evil Empire’ supremo Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk will continue his ascent to the top of the poker world!
