Poker and movie fans who have been waiting for another poker-themed thriller to hit the big screen may be pleased to know that "Cold Deck" will make its debut next month.

Then again, maybe they won't be pleased. Cold Deck apparently won't be making anyone forget "Rounders" anytime soon.

Starring Paul Sorvino (The Gambler, Goodfellas), Robert Knepper (Prison Break, The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay) and Stéfano Gallo (I Choose Chaos), the movie is described by twitchfilm.com as a Canadian crime thriller. Gallo plays the role of Bobby Locke, a poker player whose unfulfilling day job doesn't allow him to make ends meet as he is burdened with the medical expenses of his ill mother.

Locke is a regular at the poker tables at a club called Scruples run by Sorvino, who is known in the film as Chips. The action begins when Locke is invited to a high stakes poker game with a bunch of whales, and he and his pal Ben (Kjartan Hewitt) have a plan to rob the wealthy businessmen.

That leads to another character in the film known as Turk (Robert Knepper), who is running the high stakes game, to seek revenge on the robbers who pulled off the heist.

Movie fans hoping for a riveting story centering around poker will have to decide for themselves if the film warrants a thumbs up or not.
