Hoping to keep his client from posting Instagram photos from a jail cell, a lawyer for Dan Bilzerian is seeking to arrange a plea deal with prosecutors over the felony bomb-making charges that the poker-playing playboy is facing.

A Friday court date in Las Vegas saw neither Bilzerian nor co-defendant Jeremy David Guymon make an appearance on two counts of being in possession of bomb-making materials that both are charged with. The attorneys for each appeared in their stead and asked the judge for time to negotiate with the prosecution.

Judge Joseph Sciscento allowed the request and set February 6 as the next date to appear for a status hearing, the Associated Press reported. The defendants are free on bond on the felony charges that carry a possible six years behind bars and a fine of $5,000.

Ironically, Bilzerian's penchant for posting his exploits on Instagram and Twitter may be responsible for his arrest. A November 4 posting in which the 'King of Instagram'boasted of buying"a semi truck to shoot with this 20mm cannon" apparently alerted law enforcement to his shenanigans.

According to the police report, the 34-year-old trust fund millionaire and his co-defendant blew up over 90 lbs. of an explosive mixture on that date, sending truck parts flying throughout an area of the Nevada desert that is often used for target shooting. Nearby hikers apparently witnessed the airborne debris.

Local police and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents inspected the scene and reportedly found packages addressed to Bilzerian that contained exploding targets. The authorities also tracked down the previous owner of the semi truck who told them that Guymon and an unidentified man purchased the truck and said it would be blown up for a movie.

Bilzerian has nearly six million followers on social media, as his extensive postings of photos of exotic cars, firearms, and young women dressed scantily piques the interest of many. His popularity is seemingly divided by one faction that admires his lifestyle of riches and women, and another faction who condemn and hate his boastful, arguably arrogant behavior.

Bilzerian was booked on the charges on December 11 at the L.A. International Airport, while Guymon was apprehended elsewhere. Just a few days prior to his arrest, Bilzerian was accused of kicking a woman during a disturbance at a Miami nightclub.
