Daniel Negreanu Claims He Could Beat Online High Stakes NLHE Games – Million Dollar Prop Bet in the Making?

Best poker players in the world did not become a part of this elite society by accident. They may have been lucky on some occasions, some maybe more than the others, but in general – they have the skills required to win. However, poker is very diversified game and if you are an overall winner, it does not necessarily mean you are a winner in all variations and formats. Online high stakes games gather some of the best, hardest learning grinders on the planet. The general consensus is that these games are extremely difficult to beat. However, Daniel ‘KidPoker’ Negreanu does not seem to share this opinion. Heated Twitter debate between Negreanu and ‘danielmerrilees’ started off as what looked like pretty standard needling, but escalated rather quickly.
@RealKidPoker@StarsRegProblms haha negreanu you're a dolt tho. Couldn't beat 5/10 on stars i bet. Live poker is just lol- good sample bro

‘KidPoker’ clearly got very upset that someone would challenge his poker skills and responded issuing an informal challenge which, even though it was softened a bit by the smiley in the end, clearly showed that Negreanu was offended.
@danielmerrilees bet me everything you have and I will enjoy putting a few dollars in your cup when you are homeless on the street! :-)

Although ‘danielmerrilees’ tried to calm the situation down for a while, Negreanu was not relenting. PokerStars Pro seemed very confident not only that he could beat the games but also that it wouldn’t take him long to become a winning player. Despite most people participating in the argument stating those games were super tough, Daniel took a step further and issued what many see as more of a formal challenge.
@TyRaeL_88@danielmerrilees I couldn't be any more serious. 2 weeks. 5 hours playing, 4 hours studying numbers daily. Would bet a million.

This caused things to escalate even more as people have already started trying to book the action. Some, like Isaac ‘Ike’ Haxton, are of the conviction that Negreanu could beat $25/$50+ games online with proper selection, while others, like Jason Mo clearly believe the complete opposite to be true.
@RealKidPoker if you are serious ill book at least a couple $100k action against for 5/10 zoom or 25/50+ ring over a decent sample, lmk

The whole discussion moved over to 2+2 forums soon after it dried up a bit on Twitter and opinions on the topic as well as how the bet would be structured if it actually came to life. Of course those most vocal were the ones who would probably have the least to do with the actual bet, but that is the beauty of online forums – everybody gets to share their thoughts. This proposition is hardly set in stone, as Negreanu did kind of mention it in the heat of the moment, but it wouldn’t be that unlikely for it to go through either, as this is something ‘KidPoker’ might simply take as a personal challenge of the sort – proving himself and to the world he can do anything he sets his mind on.
If it does go through, we will be thrilled to follow it closely from the get go to the very end, so from a purely railbird’s perspective – fingers crossed!
