Daniel Negreanu is not a happy bunny this week and the object of his ire is the Bellagio casino, KidPoker taking to Twitter with a barrage of complaints during the WPT Five Diamond Classic currently taking place. Masks, or the lack of them, was one of his problems...

That complaint seems well-motivated given the current rapid spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, but it wasn’t the only problem Daniel had this week at the Bellagio.

It started with the decision to allow more players into the tournament than they had space for – leading Daniel to describe the waiting masses as “chooches”, with everyone else scurrying off to google and urban Dictionary to work out what he meant.

Daniel added:

“Other properties in Vegas like Wynn/Venetian do it right. If you can’t make room to run a tourney properly you are better off not running it. It’s damaging to the brand, and Bellagio has destroyed theirs.”

Others were quick to chime in on this claim, and most were supportive of Daniel, one poker Twitter fan tweeting:

“Bellagio has always been a room which catered to a small number of super high stakes famous cash game players and got away with arrogant shitty service for years based on its iconic reputation.”

That, of course, is a reference to Bobby’s Room, which hosts the famous highstakes games with Doyle Brunson, Gus Hansen, Daniel Cates, Ike Haxton and a host of other legends battling it out in their own corner of the Bellagio cardroom.

Service during the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic was another issue that had wormed its way under Daniel’s skin, though whether coffee counts as a cocktail is another question entirely.

“Anyone at @BellagioPoker want to get me a coffee? Cocktail waitresses in the poker room don’t have it, so if one of the chooches or losers waiting as alternates are bored and want to get some, hit me up!”

With all these negative vibes, you might think that DNegs had busted out and was on a loser’s moaning mission, but he’s actually doing OK, hitting day two with a 50BB stack.

He’s also in good company, with Phil Hellmuth, Justin Bonomo, Vanessa Kade and Alex Foxen all still in the mix – a line-up that seems designed to provoke off-the-felt stories and headlines as well as tournament news!

We’ll bring you all the best of the gossip and action from the Bellagio this week, so remember to check in regularly!
