It was a case of “Dirty” by name, “Dirty” by nature for Dan Cates this week as the Jungleman reacted very poorly to some needling from Nik “Airball” Arcot at Doug Polk’s cardroom at the weekend.

It was a noisy and crowded Saturday night session of $200/$400/$400 that saw Cates reacting to the stereotype he brought to the game, cowboy hat and bandana and a gruff “Dirty Dan” voice.

The fun and games started early when deepstacked Airball, a Hustler Casino Live regular, picked up on Cates’ riffling his chips on his cards, then called the clock on him.

With the pot at $20k, Airball popped out a tiny $400 blocker bet, then fired in $55k over the top of Cates’ $14k raise, on the following board...

Cates: A♥ Q♣
Airball: 9♣ 8♣

Board: A♣ 4♥ 9♦ A♦ 7♦

Cates went into the tank, but not for long as Airball called the clock early, claiming Cates was taking way too long for $50K.

When Jungleman mucked his otherwise winning trip aces, Airball moved all-in verbally: “You’re my bitch,” called Airball to Cates’ face, adding for good measure: “Jungle is a fish!”

Cates’ response was to topple Airball’s stack and state: “What do you expect from “Dirty Dan”.

Two hours later and the pair were at it again, and this time it seemed to get a bit more personal. The hand wasn’t too dissimilar, but this time Airball – by now sporting a cowboy hat too – had turned the goods...

Cates: A♠ Q♣
Airball: 8♦ 6♦

Board: 8♥ 7♦ 2♦ A♦ Q♥

With the pot sitting at $49,800, Airball fired in a $75k overbet which Jungle snapped off, only to receive the bad news.

His response this time was to trash Airball’s monster stack halfway across the table, a face like thunder showing he wasn’t impressed at all by the cards or the chat.

“Jungleman frustrated out of his mind,” was commentator Joey Ingram’s take and you can see how it played out, below...
