Dong Kim vs Nick Frame HU Challenge Kicks Off

We reported about Donger Kim issuing a heads-up challenge to Nick 'TCfromUB' Frame a couple of days ago. At that point it was not certain whether the challenge would take place at all and whether Frame would agree to the proposed conditions. However, the two were able to eventually find the mutual ground and the challenge is on.

As reported earlier, Nick ‘TooCuriousso1’ Frame was not looking to avoid the challenge but the initial proposition for the stakes to be played during the challenge was too high. He countered with the proposal to play lower stakes and after some back and forth, 'Donger Kim' accepted.

What are they playing for?

The two have come to a private arrangement that they would play 15k hands at the $25/$50 limit, with the $15,000 sidebet. By forming the bet in this manner, they hope to make it a fair match with very little incentive for someone with advantage to fold their way to the victory.

The action is taking place on PokerStars.

Sidebets

We have become accustomed to have every noteworthy challenged accompanied by a large number of sidebets by players not directly involved with the situation. For the most part, they do it for the fun, but some also do it because they believe they have an edge and it is a financial feasible proposition.

There is plenty of action going on the side, but it is Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk who has booked a lot of bets, betting on Kim to win the challenge. Polk and Kim are friends in real life and hence it is natural that Doug is taking his side; however, some have expressed their concerns that he could be helping Donger Kim throughout the challenge to help him get an edge.

Polk briefly explained that he would never cheat to help Kim win in the challenge and he didn’t spend too much time dwelling on the topic if he would help him with the analysis between the sessions. After all, this is not cheating in any form and ‘TooCuriousso1’ is well aware that the two are friends, so there is no hidden information either.

Wherever there is big prop-betting going on, Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald is usually around as well. He came around the thread as well and offered to bet up to $20k on Dong to win the challenge outright, offering 1.25 - 1 ($1k to win $1,250). He also expressed interest in crossbooking some of Dong’s the action at 1.1 – 1.

Overall, the amount of sidebets exchanged in the thread, exceeds the original bet between 'Donger Kim' and 'TCfromUB' by quite a lot.

Coverage

The first match between the two took place yesterday. Chicagojoey was there for the kickoff and will, no doubt, continue to follow the action as it goes down, helping you keep an eye on your favorite.
