Doug Polk Hits $1000 Milestone

The mega-talented Doug Polk has finally hit the $1000 milestone in his $10K Challenge, and claims he hasn’t had a losing session since back in August when he first began the tough task.

Polk began the challenge after his Twitter followers voted on a number of different poker tests for the Pasadena-born pro who splits his time between high-stakes poker playing, his Upswing Poker training site, producing his popular Polker News and generally getting involved in all things poker!

Back in August he explained:

"I took on this challenge because I want to prove that, even in today’s tough online poker ecosystem, a hopeful micro stakes grinder can still run up a bankroll. The days of the 2003 poker boom may be behind us, but that doesn’t mean we have to give up and blame our failure on the system.”

Playing exclusively on WSOP.com in Nevada, and mainly No Limit Hold’em, many have been surprised that it has taken Polk over four months to boost his bankroll 10-fold, one wit tweeting that “for all the hours u put in to make $900 a minimum wage job would have paid way better!”

Streaming his sessions live on Twitch TV, the ‘four months’ has been in reality only 25 sessions – and the rollercoaster-ride since his $17 loss on day 1 followed by a quick rise to $500 and then all the way down again has been pulled together quite nicely this weekend, winning a few hundred extra bucks to hit the magic $1K milestone.

With only a vague time-limit for completing the tough task, Polk’s 37, 773 followers on Twitch have been enjoying the Cash Game Friday’s sessions – watching how a world-leading high-stakes pro manages the micro-stakes problems which many of us still struggle to beat!
