Doug Polk Loves Poker Again - Will He Unretire?

Doug Polk has expressed his excitement over falling back in love with poker. The Upswing Poker founder tweeted out during the WSOP Main Event that his love for the game had returned and he couldn’t wait to get back to his seat.

It was quite some admission to read that Polk deliberately punted off his stack during Level One of the Main Event five years ago. Why enter to begin with?

We must assume that the American was struggling mentally to let go of the game even when he knew deep down that it didn’t satisfy him like it used to. But after a few years away — that included an unretirement or two — it now looks like Polk’s passion has returned. The question is: what is he going to do about it?

More high stakes heads-up battles perhaps. Maybe he will reinvent himself as a tournament player? Who knows but we’re excited to see where this takes him.

We could get more of an idea when he faces off again against Daniel Negreanu next month in Round 2 of High Stakes Dual 4. The pair haven’t clashed since the end of their high stakes grudge match a couple of years ago when Polk defeated what was then his bitter rival to the tune of $1.2 million.
