An Illinois attorney with a penchant for filing lawsuits against the poker and gambling industry took his tirade too far by calling into question the manner in which Doyle Brunson was laid to rest and will be memorialized.

Brunson, the winner of 10 WSOP gold bracelets and known worldwide as the Godfather of Poker, passed away last month at the age of 89. A private funeral was held, with a more public celebration of life in the works at the ongoing 2023 WSOP.

The attorney, Mark Lavery, who apparently has several Twitter accounts, took exception to the Brunson family's choices with regard to memorializing "TexDolly." Tweeting under the name of LexPangea, Lavery posted this in response to a tweet by Brunson's son, Todd:

Of course, many responded to Lavery's insensitive tweet, reminding the lawyer that it's improper to speak ill of the dead and that with no connections to the family, the manner in which the Brunsons choose to honor and memorialize their loved one is of no business to him.

The attorney, however, apparently feels that he does have ties to the Brunson family, outlandishly blaming Doyle for the death of his wife in 2008.

"My wife loved @TexDolly on High Stakes poker. She saw an Ultimate Bet advertisement and got cheated and commit suicide. I blame the Brunsons for sure," Lavery tweeted.
The untimely death of Mrs. Lavery, who apparently suffered extensive losses on the UB blackjack tables, has seemingly ignited a fire under Lavery that has manifested into a vendetta against what he perceives to be cheating within the poker and gambling industry.

Lawsuits against Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme, Brad Owen, Nate Silver, Faraz Jaka and others have been filed by Lavery in the ensuing years since his wife's death. The litany of litigation was detailed by Poker.org a few months ago.

Lavery admits to being angry. Within the thread of the original tweet regarding the private funeral and planned public memorial for Doyle Brunson, the lawyer tweeted the following:

Mr. Lavery, on behalf of myself and others throughout the poker community, we are sorry for your loss. I read the guest book attached to your wife's obituary and it's obvious that she touched many lives.

I'm sure what you are going through is painful and I can't begin to imagine the devastation to you and your family. But, please, have some respect for the Brunson family in their time of mourning as well.
