Fabrizio Gonzalez Wins PartyPoker LAPC SHR Uruguay For $79K, João Simão Eliminates His Own Wife

It looked like a night sleeping on the couch was on the cards for João Simão after knocking out his wife LuÃza at the final table of the partypoker LIVE Latin American Poker Championships Uruguay $5,300 buy-in Super High Roller yesterday, the partypoker pro falling in 2nd spot as local pro Fabrizio Gonzalez secured the title and $79,000.
The curious situation saw João and his wife LuÃza battling it out 3-handed with Gonzalez, the married couple clashing in a hand which João won, sending his wife to the rails in 3rd and prompting a ‘win it or sleep on the couch’ warning from his better half.
With 34 entries to the $200,000 guaranteed opener of the series in Uruguay, the super-stylish Enjoy Conrad Resort and Casino in Punta del Este was playing host to the debut partypoker LIVE LAPC – not to be confused with the currently running WPT LAPC, the Poker Classic in LA – and the Brazilian border-raiding couple made it to the money spots – the final table of nine paying out five.
Uruguay’s Gonzalez, better-known to many by his $multi-million online crusher monikers DrMiKee (partypoker) and SixthSenSe19 (PokerStars), was way out in the chip lead as he battled with the Simãos for the title, however, and although fellow online beast João managed to take his wife’s stack into heads-up play, there was no stopping a home victory…
The much-anticipated $1,100 Main Event kicks off today with the first two of four starting flights, with a share of the $1 million guaranteed prize pool awaiting the winners…
