First One Billion Play Chips Pot Won on Full Tilt

It may not be as impressive as the crazy high-stakes action that takes place nearly daily on Full Tilt Poker, but one billion of anything is still an impressive number, even if it is only play chips. Thinking about it, someone really had to grind pretty hard to amass that many chips (although it is possible to buy them as well), so this is not something you can see every day.

In fact, this was the very first pot of this size to ever be created on Ful Tilt, and it is no surprise that the game taking place on the felt was none other than Six Card Omaha. Omaha is, in general, a high-variance game where equities run much closer than in No Limit Hold’em and players’ hands have many more ways to connect with the board – and that’s with four cards only. Even if you’ve never played the Six Card version, you probably get the picture how pots can get very big very fast.

Six players seated at the table had well over billion in front of them combined, but the two main protagonists of this epic hand were 1shini1 with 674,420,000 chips and Mitti7 with 490,580,000. Third player, blinds5 with slightly over 100,000,000 chips was also involved in the hand before the flop and added his contribution to make this pot ten-figures.

The three saw the flop of 5h 7c 4h and this is where blinds5 gave up his hand, but the other two proceeded to get all of their money in the middle. When the cards were on their backs, it turned out Mitti7 was holding Jh 2c 6h 8d 7s Kd for flopped nut straight, top pair and a flush draw. 1shini1 was slightly behind with 2h Kc 3d Kh 7d 5c for a better flush draw, top two pair, an overpair and a backdoor flush draw. It turned out that this backdoor was in fact decisive, as 4c on the turn and 10c on the river completed backdoor clubs and awarded 1shini1 the pot of 1,006,260,000.

Although play chips do not have the real money value per se, according to going rate in Full Tilt store, this pot would be worth around $2,000. Selling play chips is not allowed by Full Tilt TOS, but it is hard to believe that these guys would want to do it anyway. They probably enjoy playing for huge pots as it gets their blood pumping more than playing in any micro stakes game could, and although it may not seem as an investment with good ROI, for someone playing just for fun, there is nothing wrong in enjoying occasional 10-figure poker pot!

Note: Since there seemed to have been some confusion amongst the readership - the above picture is not an actual representation of the pot, it is a snap-shot from nosebleeds from some time ago. We do not have the actual pic or the recording of the hand as it played out, but rest assured it happened :)
