Garrett Adelstein Calls Hustler Casino Live Cheating “Completely F***ing Unacceptable!”

The Hustler Casino Live cheating incident from earlier this month has been described as “completely f***ing unacceptable” by Garrett Adelstein, the popular cash game pro disgusted by the actions of Julio “Skillsrocks” Cedillo...

As we reported recently, Cedillo repeatedly sneaked looks at fellow player Barry Wallace’s cards, using that knowledge to take thousands from the well-liked pro.

With Cedillo also apparently trying to persuade another player to collude with him against Wallace by kicking him under the table to let him know Wallace had flopped a straight, poker fans were incensed by his underhand tactics.

Hustler Casino Live quickly banned the miscreant, but it was still the talk of the table when Wallace returned for the following week’s televised show – the elephant in the room the main topic of conversation.

Wallace took some responsibility for what occurred on himself, stating:

“The cheating part isn’t what he did, he didn’t cheat when he looked. I’m responsible for my own hand. The cheating part is when he kicked the other dude and was addressing him trying to tell him to fold when I had the straight.”

The video, compiled by fellow pro Alex Duvall, clearly shows not only the multiple cheating attempts, but also that Wallace twigged something was up with the under-the-table nonsense.

After scooping a big pot courtesy of the flopped straight, he turned to Cedilla and Antonio “SoFlo” Llievano – the latter unaware of Cedilla’s tactics.
“Whatever you all did and whatever you all said? Not cool!” Wallace told them, but he didn’t realise at the time that Cedilla was almost literally bending over backwards to sneak a look at his cards.

One week later and much the wiser, Wallace explained:

“The idiot was looking at my hand, he was purposefully leaning back…trying to get into my hand... I don’t mind what he did, it’s part of the game. I should have been smarter and I should have held my hand better. I should have protected better…so I’m responsible for that. But him? He’s responsible for being a…”

That expletive faded out into the general table noise, but Garrett Adelstein wasn’t 100% on board with Wallace’s appraisal of the cheating.

“One thing you said that I just take strong issue with, on behalf of the poker community, looking at other people’s hands, if you can, is not part of the game,” said Adelstein. “That is not part of the game…that’s completely fucking unacceptable, he added, despite admitting that there exists “a small segment of people in poker, and in life, who are going to take every edge like that if they can get away with it.”

However, Adelstein was adamant that this minority view was in the wrong.

“That’s not part of the game, that’s completely fucked up and I think I stand for the vast majority of poker players that when someone is showing their hand, they go out of their way to ensure they don’t look at it – they don’t see it, they say something, even if they have to say something to the guy every five minutes. I don’t think poker is this community where everyone’s just trying to rip each other’s head off…”
That element was certainly shown by the Hustler Casino Live founders, Ryan Feldman and Nick Vertucci, who were quick to condemn Cedilla for his cheating and ensure he was no longer welcome on the show or in the casino.
