The end of January brings us another big tournament series at the world’s largest online poker site, PokerStars. The Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) will begin its fourth edition on Thursday, January 23rd with a $27 6-Max No Limit Hold’em event.

TCOOP was first introduced at PokerStars in January 2012 when “betudontbet” won over $380,000 in the Main Event and the series has taken place in January every year since. This year the series will feature an extensive schedule of 50 events, ranging from $7.50 buy-in re-buys to the $700 No Limit Hold’em Main Event on February 2nd.

The idea behind TCOOP was to combine the popular Turbo format with the COOP format. The turbo events are popular among many players due to the fact they do not last as long as normal poker tournaments and require less time and less stamina.

The TCOOP has shown great success over the years and is expected to repeat that success again in 2015. The series will feature a wide variety of tournaments ranging from No Limit Hold’em to the rarely seen Courchevel Hi/Lo, FL Omaha Hi/Lo, and NL 5Card Draw. As usual, the series will also feature a $2,100 High Roller for the highest of rollers and will conclude with a $215 Supersonic – TCOOP Wrap-Up (Hyper Turbo).

The TCOOP will also host an assortment of events from straight up freezeouts to cubed, re-entry, big antes, and ante up tournaments. The series will feature a leaderboard, with the top player of the series being awarded a Champion’s Trophy as well as a ticket to the 2015 SCOOP Main Event worth $5,200. The same ticket will be awarded to the second place finisher, while places 3-5 will receive a $2,100 SCOOP ticket. Other prizes will also consist of tournament tickets, with 250 players in line to be winners.

Players will be able to qualify through a variety of satellites, and will be allowed to use real money, tournament dollars, or tickets bought in the VIP Store to register directly.

The Main Event of the series will take place on Sunday, Februray 2nd, with a $700 buy-in. The event has a guaranteed prize pool of $2,000,000, a big chunk of the total $15,000,000 that PokerStars has guaranteed for the entire series. A fun week of poker lies ahead, and you can read all about it right here at Pokertube as we will be reporting on all the major TCOOP events.
