Global Poker Looks Forward to Thanksgiving and The Festive Season
5 years ago17 Nov
The modern game of poker is as American as apple pie and Thanksgiving â and with the traditional family-oriented holiday in the USA just around the corner, it has reminded Global Pokerâs Joseph del Duca just how much the game and his nation have in common!
With the poker we know nowadays based on various games with ancient roots, and spanning âmany continents and culturesâ, Joseph daws parallels with the modern-day USA, born out of âmultiple cultures, with people hailing from every continent on the planetâ.
Itâs been over 150 years since both the game of poker and Thanksgiving took their present forms. The 1830âs is about the time our favourite card-game took on its present features, while it was just a few decades later, in 1863, that President Abraham Lincoln declared a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.
Although Del Duca is probably not the first to muse that âJust like in America, in poker it doesnât matter who you are, you can winâ, his thoughts embody the American Dream in many ways.
âYoung or old, west coast or east, north or south, whatever your professional situation or education, everyone is an equalâ, says Joseph, and as the biggest US-facing site gets set to offer up a festive bonanza, their very equally-well treated players look set to celebrate a bumper harvest.
His slightly cryptic announcement that: âGlobal Poker has prepared an amazing array of prizes you can win during the festive season and are excited to bring you the news once preparations are complete and everything is setâ, will have players scurrying to check their schedules, but there is a quicker route to the detailsâŚ

This community aspect of Global Poker has been to the fore since its inception â the Hometown Heroes idea a stroke of genius whereby players who snap a pic of themselves in GP gear around town or at their local casino can win big.
They also recently added Crazy Pineapple to their Texas Holdâem and Omaha offerings on the back of player demand and feedback - and are the only poker site to offer this wildly entertaining twist on Holdâem.
Before we get to the festive cheer, of course, we have the Thanksgiving holiday to get through and as Joseph says:
âIf youâre looking for a quiet, rewarding escape from feasting on turkey and stuffing, sweet potato casserole, and everything else Mom makes or watching any of the hot division-rivalry NFL games with your uncle; or listening to your family argue about religion or politics or which latest online show is the best, why not play the traditional American, culturally significant and rewarding game â poker â online at Global Poker!"
