The much lauded  GOAT Series at Global Poker has been confirmed as the best series to date.

More than 50,000 players were delighted to compete for more than SC$1,000,000 in guaranteed cash prizes in the month long festival that finished at the weekend.

In the end a total of more than SC$1.3 million in real cash prizes was paid out with over 225 million play chip Gold Coins also being won.

This was the fourth series run by the US facing social poker site and left us begging for more. The festival definitely didn’t disappoint and was jam-packed with action from beginning to end culminating in Sunday’s three main events. With more than 2,000 players battling it out it was a seriously intense day of online poker.

All the winners and their runner-ups will now be invited to the Tournament of Champions held on Sunday 25th August.

The Winners

The Low Main Event kicked off the day with Texan ‘Whalenutz’ cleaning up. The SC$22 buy-in tournament had a SC$15,000 guarantee and more than 1,000 participants challenging for glory.

Next up was the Medium Main Event with a SC$110 buy-in and a SC$40,000 guarantee eventually well-beaten for a prize pool of SC$52,500. The field was more than 500 and yet again we saw the Texans on good form. ‘Floridaworm’ took down SC$9,843 for his victory and will be joined by ‘AFA567’ on Sunday.

The grand finale High Main Event was a marathon affair taking almost seven hours to complete. The SC$218 buy-in event with a SC$100,000 guarantee saw New Jersey resident ‘RawMeteor’ take home a nice SC$21,542 prize as well as a much coveted GOAT title.

This Sunday will now see a vicious fight between all of these tremendous winners to see who will represent Global Poker in a live event of their choice with an all-expenses paid package valued at $5,000! This generous offer goes a long way to supporting US based players who have had a rough time of it over the last decade.

On a more humorous note, festival participants ‘DuQueen2Q’ and ‘TheLionsMakeMeVerySad’ entered into a prop bet before the GOAT Series began over who would win the most tournaments. The loser would have to have a tattoo of a goat on their backside. It was ‘DuQueen2Q’ who eventually dipped out, and as far as we know, there aren’t any photos doing the rounds - not that we would print such stuff anyway!
