For everyone and anyone who’s been asking themselves where Gus Hansen is and what he has been up to during this year’s Series – he finally made his appearance at the Rio tonight, entering the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.
Can't hold off my debut at the WSOP 2014 - 50K Players championship tomorrow sunday - go go go
According to his Twitter page, Gus couldn’t make his mind up about what his very first tournament this summer would be, and on several occasions he announced his arrival, but until tonight, it was just promises. The first tournament Hansen was planning to play was the $10k 6-max championship, and when that did not materialize, he thought about joining the $5,000 8-handed event, and then a long session in the Bobby’s Room disrupted his plans for the Stud 8 tournament.
Pool party on friday nite ruined my debut at the 2014 WSOP - Maybe 5K 8 handed will be my first event?
Tonight, however, he finally turned up for what can easily be deemed as the most prestigious event of the Series. Gus has clearly been in Vegas all along, but we will have to wait to find out more details about why he joined the fun so late into the Series.
Been in Vegas for 2 weeks - partying with friends - entering my first event 10K 6 max NLH on saturday 14th - Attack attack attack!
His short tweets reveal only glimpses, but he will no doubt tell the more detailed story once all the media in the tournament room gets hold of him. After all, he’s been MIA for nearly a month, while everyone else was grinding at the tables and chasing bracelets. Hansen clearly had better things to do with his time.
Was it nosebleed cash games, partying hard or something else? If we were to guess and tried to derive conclusions from his tweets, it was most likely the combination of the first two, but we will let the Great Dane shed more light on the topic in the coming days.
