How I Earn $50k a Month Playing Online Poker

BBC News posted a video of an online poker pro named "Donald" who reported earnings of anywhere from $0 to $50,000 per month.

Donald lives with other online pros who support each other through the ups and downs associated with playing poker for a living. The 26-year-old claims to have never had a "proper job," relying on his poker skills to pay the bills.

While the prospect of earning $50K per month playing poker all day would certainly attract a number of players, Donald doesn't see a bright future in online poker. In fact, if he had to do it all over again, Donald said he would have chosen a different way to put food on the table.

He stated:

"I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone getting into it now and I certainly wouldn't start again if it was me, now."

Citing tough competition at the online tables due to software that allows players to gain an advantage and become proficient in a shorter amount of time, Donald doesn't see himself as an online pro beyond 3-5 years. He also warns against the proliferation of "artificial intelligence" or bots, who will continue to make it a challenge for players to find and maintain success.

The Brit paints a picture of doom and gloom for online poker as a profession despite the fact that he has apparently been making a pretty good living at it for quite some time.

Is the heyday of online poker really behind us, making it difficult for new players to follow the path of previous online pros to riches and sometimes fame? Or is Donald wrong with his assumptions and skilled players with the proper discipline and motivation can continue to crush the online game?
