Jake Cody takes us along with him on his first sojourn to Asia and judging from the tone of his latest vlog, it likely won't be his last visit there.

A flight from London to Hong Kong followed by a ferry ride to Macau put Cody in the "Las Vegas of the East," a gambling mecca known to host perhaps the biggest cash games known to man. He chose not to name names, but Cody said that he sat down and played at the cash tables against "some of the very best players" in the world.

Intense Cash Game Action

Readers can draw their own conclusions as to who those players might be. Vlog commenters certainly were curious, asking Cody if one of his Macau cash game opponents was perhaps part of a certain heads-up challenge that has dragged on for years, and if another might be involved in legal wrangling pertaining to edge sorting.

Whoever the unnamed top players were, Jake called the games "intense." He played at both the HK$300/$600 and HK$1,000/$2,000 cash tables, with one particular session lasting a marathon length of 32 hours.

Unfortunately, Cody didn't let his viewers know the results of the cash game action in terms of dollars won or lost. However, one could surmise from his demeanor and upbeat attitude, as well as the from the fact that he's been putting in a lot of work on his cash game as of late, that profits were had.

Cody said:

"I think I'm definitely getting much better at poker overall, and at cash game poker specifically."

Macau Poker Cup

With regard to tournament action, Jake made deep runs in two events while staying at the City of Dreams Resort & Casino in Macau. In the Red Dragon, 1,216 entrants bought in for HK$15,000, which is slightly less than $2,000 USD.

Cody started Day 3 of the Red Dragon with only 10 BB and 75 players remaining, yet worked that short stack to a 29th place finish and HK$60,150 ($7,750) in prize money. After a sick run to begin Day 3, dead cards and an opponent's pocket Kings put an end to his shot at that cool-looking Red Dragon trophy.

Despite getting slowrolled and owned by the same player in separate hands, Cody made it into the money in a HK$100,000 High Roller. He roughly doubled the buy-in and won $24,294 USD for squeezing into 11th place, the final spot that cashed out of 81 entries.
