The Irish Poker Open is now underway with a whole host of top players arriving to stake their claim for the big wins. The venue is the plush Royal Dublin Society, located in the centre of the city.

The IPO is one of the most exciting events on the calendar with many well-known faces making the trip to grind the 40 tournaments scheduled.

The Irish Poker Open has been running for a whopping 42 years, giving it the longest history for a NL event outside of Las Vegas.

The tournaments kicked off on April 3 and will run through until April 10. Today is the last shot for players wanting to play a Day 1 flight in the €1,150 buy-in, €1,000,000 GTD Main Event. Those with more modest bankrolls will find something suitable in the remainder of the schedule with events available for only a €150 buy-in.

Last year’s champion, Steve O’Dwyer, who lives in Ireland, is back and looked determined to retain his title after being photographed carrying his lucky chair into the playing hall.

HighStakes Sends Three Players to Dublin for the Irish Poker Open

HighStakes did its bit by running a satellite tournament where three players won the poker holiday of their dreams. Jon “aduriz20” Samperio Gomez, Anthony “ThunderballsAK” Thunder and Giorgos “Onbidea” Loukas are all in Dublin where the trio will be challenging for a slice of the €1 million guarantee in the IPO Main Event.
