It’s Brazil to the Fore in $60million POWERFEST as Final Week Starts
5 years ago19 Sep
Perhaps it’s all practice for the upcoming WSOP Circuit in Rio, or maybe they are just that good, but whatever the reason, the Brazilian online poker crew are showing no signs of slowing down in the partypoker POWERFEST series, another mass of wins and cashes extending their lead as the 3rd and final week begins…
The $60million guaranteed series saw the Brazilians open up with 40 different winners in the first week alone, and they have added another 35 victories in week two, opening up a gap between themselves and the UK (61 wins in total) and the Russians (55 wins) with Germany and Canada representing well enough but still off in the distance…
The following table shows where exactly the Samba boys and girls are leading the way, and it makes for an interesting tale…
POWERFEST Wins
Country | Micro | Low | Medium | High | High Roller | Super High Roller | Totals |
Brazil | 15 | 23 | 21 | 9 | 7 | 0 | 75 |
UK | 11 | 10 | 12 | 16 | 11 | 1 | 61 |
Russia | 20 | 13 | 9 | 9 | 4 | 0 | 55 |
Germany | 8 | 10 | 7 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 32 |
Canada | 4 | 1 | 5 | 8 | 6 | 2 | 26 |
The UK are clearly doing their thing at the big-buy in tournaments, partypoker ambassador Patrick Leonard’s big wins helping the team UK cause no end…
…but the low to medium stakes are where the boys and girls from the Copacabana beaches are hitting POWERFEST hard, double their closest rivals where it matters, and the same story is playing out in the final tables and cashes rankings….
POWERFEST final tables
Country | Micro | Low | Medium | High | High Roller | Super High Roller | Total |
Brazil | 79 | 138 | 110 | 62 | 24 | 0 | 413 |

UK | 46 | 69 | 83 | 84 | 84 | 12 | 378 |

POWERFEST cashes
Country | Micro | Low | Medium | High | High Roller | Super High Roller | Totals |
Brazil | 2,892 | 4,531 | 3,709 | 1,298 | 189 | 8 | 12,627 |
Russia | 5,495 | 3,777 | 1,709 | 889 | 233 | 20 | 12,123 |
UK | 2,607 | 2,902 | 2,145 | 1,553 | 578 | 57 | 9,842 |
Germany | 2,526 | 2,384 | 1,410 | 708 | 185 | 9 | 7,222 |
Canada | 1,624 | 1,408 | 1,021 | 830 | 318 | 28 | 5,229 |
… Brazil way out in front, with Russia taking over second spot from the UK compared to week one.
POWERFEST prize money won
Of course, when it comes to poker, many will be asking ‘show me the money!’ and it’s here that the UK has excelled itself – not that surprising, given the big-buy-in/big scores tally!
Country | Amount |
UK | $1,532,799.82 |
Canada | $1,202,780.91 |
Brazil | $949,011.12 |
Sweden | $640,426.01 |
Germany | $444,876.93 |
The first big question here is… where are the Russians? Lots of wins and final tables but not quite so much to show for them…
And secondly, can anyone halt the dominance of the Brazilians over the remaining 247 events of third week?
The UK will be looking to September 20th’s $25k Super High Roller to tie up the gold medal in the cashes’ stakes - but can they catch the Brazilians in the overall standings before they ride off into the Copacabana sunset?
