‘Not for the faint-hearted’ is how Americas Cardroom (ACR) describes its latest Cage Live event, an innovative and exciting 5-hour cash game in a tournament format where players walk off with whatever they’ve won when the final bell sounds… and now you can satellite your way into the $5k buy-in shark-infested Cage-fight…

The beautiful destination of San Jose, Costa Rica is where you’ll be battling for your poker life, the Taormina Hotel hosting the two-day slugfest, and ACR are giving away an $8000 package every Sunday, and here’s what you can win…

ACR’s $8,000 Cage Live package

  • $5,000 + $250 Buy-in to Cage Live Event
  • $800 airfare
  • $1,000 spending Cash
  • Up to 3 nights' accommodation at the Taormina Casino and Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica
  • Airport Transportation

When is it and how do I qualify?

The next Cage Live runs from September 28th to October 1st which gives you time to get yourself a seat in the tournament-style cash game, and here’s how to do it on the cheap…

$55 Beast Sit & Crush Cage Live satellites

Sundays on ACR at 6pm E.T. is where you need to be if you want to win your Costa Rica package, the $55 Sit and Crush satellites just one of the many ways to qualify for the end of September biggie…

If you’re playing cash games on ACR then you’re automatically part of the Beast, (apart from heads-up tables that is, for obvious reasons) and it’s a progressive points race based on the rake you’re paying, with a progressive Jackpot that gives away thousands of dollars at the end of each week to the top ranking players.

Top the Leaderboards

For the Cage Live, the leaders will be looking at an $8k package as well as their big bonuses, and the Sit and Crush leaderboards are also feeding in to the Costa Rica trip, so that’s two more chances of a cheap road to glory!

How does the Cage Live work?

The premise is pretty simple – you start off with 5000 chips on a 6-max table, as does everyone else, and those chips are worth real cash, so the goal is to last as long as possible while building a stack, but when the 5 hours is up ACR convert that stack into cold, hard cash. For example 42,115 chips = $42,115, which is as fair as it gets, but it’ll have you sweating as the clock ticks down!

What can I win?

If that number above sounds like a strange one to pick from thin air, it’s not – it’s exactly what July Cage Live winner Dan Stavila walked off with, with 12 others from the 33 who played also in the money, ranging from $3.5k up to $18k for the second-biggest stack of the tournament!

No Limit Hold’em or PLO? The choice is yours

This month’s trip to Costa Rica is the 4th of the year, all of which have been No Limit Hold’em battles, but if Pot-Limit Omaha is your game then the end of season finale will be right up your street, Cage Live turning to PLO from November 30th to December 3rd – and when you win a package you can choose any of the events, giving you some extra freedom to decide when to take on your fellow sharks in the cage.

Players are already sewing up their Cage Live packages, last month seeing several big series’ leaderboard winners adding to their prizes…

OK, so that’s a mass of info to take in – and the easiest way to get involved is by heading over to ACR and checking out which route suits you best – and hopefully we’ll see you in the Costa Rica Cage Live later this month!
