It seems that Kyle Cartwright can do no wrong when he hits the tournament trail, yesterday taking down his 3rd WSOP Circuit Main Event title and his 7th ring in total, barely a month after hitting his 3rd $100,000 video poker jackpot in as many months, his 7th in total!

The numbers all added up for the 29-year old Tennessee man in the $1675 buy-in IP Main Event at Biloxi, overcoming a field of 342 other hopefuls to scoop $118,332, taking his lifetime tournament earnings to over $1.6million, despite mostly focusing on cash games nowadays.

“Tournaments, I don’t play too many anymore, but when I do I’m kind of successful. I should probably play more, but the cash at home is so good to where I don’t even want to travel anymore,” Cartwright explained to WSOP reporters. “I just stay close to home.”

His tournament skills and savvy were very much on show in Biloxi, Cartwright exploiting the fact that for many of his opponents the money was foremost in their mind on day 3.

“I was going to play aggressive because I heard so many guys saying ‘I want a pay jump’ and stuff like that,” Cartwright said. “So, I was playing a lot of hands; I mean I had no playback at me. If they played back at me they had it.”

Of the 4-hour heads-up battle against Timothy TK Miles, Cartwright said: “I mean, he is by far the best player I have ever faced heads up. That’s not even a question. He was tough, but I kind of figured him out after a while,” the final hand for the bracelet seeing his AK overcome Miles’ suited A10.

Another thing he seems to have figured out is how to win video poker jackpots, last month landing his 3rd $100k win of the year, telling PokerNews at the time:

"It obviously feels amazing to win $100,000 from a slot machine. Not one, not two, but three times in a couple months. I've hit maybe 6-7 royal flushes in my lifetime of gambling of 7+ years. To hit 3 in 5 sessions is quite absurd."
