The first live event centered around a Twitch streamer proved a smashing success as a large turnout of players showed up to play poker, hang out, and meet PokerStars ambassador and streaming platform champ Lex Veldhuis.

Lex Live attracted 1,064 entries for the €225 Main Event, but countless more who made their way to Grand Casino de Namur in Belgium and participated in a variety of fun activities that included pub quizzes and FU Flip tournaments. The number of people who showed up overwhelmed Veldhuis, who said this about the turnout to PokerStars Blog:

"I couldn’t be happier with everything. All of the tournaments were massive, not just the Main Event. The High Roller had a lot of people. There were lines and lines of people for the bounty tournament. I believe there were 180 people on the waiting list. Absolutely incredible."

It's evident that Twitch is having a tremendous effect on growing the game of poker. With his burgeoning fan base, Lex appears to be among those leading the charge.

More to Come

The winner of the Main Event was Danny de Vos, who was part of a five-player deal that saw his share total €29,309 after topping the field. The entire prize pool was €196,713

So what's on the agenda now following the success of the inaugural Lex Live that was as much about social interaction and having fun as it was about winning at poker? The blog asked Lex if other such events will follow.

"I think I can say it’s almost 100% sure that we’re going to do it again," Veldhuis said. "I was actually surprised by how comfortable everyone was with each other immediately. I’m going to listen to a lot of feedback from community members over the next few weeks .... and see what kind of improvements we can make."
