A crowd estimated to be roughly 1,000 people created a ruckus on the Las Vegas Strip the other night when an unidentified man reportedly began tossing $100 bills into the air.
It's unknown why the man chose to share his wealth with complete strangers outside the Cromwell hotel at 4:00 a.m., but it led to fights over the free money that littered the sidewalk. A large contingent of police were called to the scene to quell the disturbance, with two arrests made.
C-Notes Flying Everywhere
Just as a throng of clubgoers were leaving the Drai’s nightclub in the casino, the man began throwing the cash around. The Cromwell is located at 3503 Las Vegas Boulevard South and faces Flamingo Road.
“As you might expect, it caused quite the commotion,” Lt. David Gordon of the Metropolitan Police Department told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Police officers from other departments were called to the scene to help control the excited crowd. For a brief period of time, police didn't allow anyone to enter the casino. Once the area was cleared and most of the people involved in the disturbance had gone on their way, it was business as usual.
Police reported no injuries in the fracas, but did make two arrests for misdemeanors.
Frenetic Fight Fans
Just one day earlier, police were again summoned to the Cromwell after receiving a report of gun shots fired. Police initially feared that a shooter might be in the area, but it was a false alarm.
DailyMail.com reported that the loud noises thought to be gun shots were actually caused by huge statues knocked over near the casino entrance. A brawl among Mayweather and McGregor fans following the boxing match was the reason for the overturned statues.
