Day 6 of the World Cup of Online Poker (WCOOP) ended in a Finnish success after more than 3400 heads rolled in the bounty hunt, ‘messigoats’ adding some +$77,670 to his already impressive $123,590 top prize, almost as much in bounty as the rest of the final table combined.

The $530 NLHE Progressive KO, Half Price Thursday Thrill, $1M Guaranteed event had, as the name suggests, cut its buy-in from $1050, the 2,660 unique entries topped up by 750 rebuys, thereby smashing the $1m guarantee by some $722,050 – the bounty hunt KO element a big hit in recent years.

As with most of the huge online festivals, the field is made up of many ‘anonymous’ grinders as well as some better known names and the Progressive KO was no exception, Romania’s Adrian ‘politm69’ Ionescu starting the final table with a chip lead while the aggressive play needed to rack up the headhunting bounties was shown by Leo ‘ISILDRooN’ Nordin.

Sweden’s Nordin fell in 7th spot, his $20K in cash and bonuses almost matching his best live cash of $22K from last year in Monaco, the final 6 now guaranteed a minimum of $20,000 plus whatever else they could add to their stack.

Fifth and sixth spots were decided in races, Ionescu’s suited ace-king outflopping the pocket 8’s of ‘OverTheTop43’, while ‘Yattago’ hit the virtual rails in 5th after his own suited Ace nine was drawing pretty thin when ‘messigoat10’ hit trip queens on the flop, a rivered full house sealing the deal.

Pokernews reported that a deal was then turned down by ‘messigoat’s’ fellow Finn ‘MaxErosAmore’, despite the latter having taken a huge hit, and the fates decreed he’d go no further, outkicked by his countryman.

When Ionescu fell in third, a huge payday for the Romanian softened the blow, and it was another race which decided the title, the somewhat lop-sided pocket jacks of freddopizza against ‘messi’s’ Ace-eight meaning little when the flop produced an ace.

Messigoat’s $77,670 in bounties capped a fine, fast-paced event and his final haul top the $200k mark.
