Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow has hinted that he may be done with poker. The feisty live tournament legend and multiple WSOP gold bracelet winner tweeted how he has reassessed his priorities during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Time to Try Something New

Danielle Andersen started the conversation on Twitter when she aired her thoughts about moving on from poker. The high stakes cash player has been at the top of the game for more than 15 years and is now thinking about new challenges.

“I’ve always loved poker but this extended break + craziness of the world has me reevaluating if it’s really what I want to do forever. For the first time ever I find myself daydreaming of walking away & doing something else.”

She’s not the first top player to get past 30 and realise that there are other things in life besides poker.

Matusow, on the other hand, comes across as a man who is all about poker through and through. Could he really consider doing something else?

Responding to Andersen he said:

He is now 52 years old and gives the impression that he’ll be still at the tables until his days are done. The poker scene will certainly be the poorer for his absence. He is one of the most entertaining plates ever seen at a live table, always speaking his mind and injecting a good dose of humour.

One Twitter follower asked how he can consider walking to do something new when he has just started a poker podcast.

“How have you removed yourself? You do a poker podcast and tag along Phil to play poker w/ his money full-time. Is there something you’re not telling us?”

This might be a relevant point. Matusow is known to have been playing in high stakes cash games with Phil Hellmuth’s money. Could he really be broke? His money management is famously random at the best of times and he has been busto on more than one occasion.
