Online MTT Legend Thayer Rasmussen Passes Away

Thayer Rasmussen, a legendary poker player from Florida, has passed away according to his family. Rasmussen was an incredible tournament player who played under the screen name "THAY3R" on various sites during the poker boom.

Rasmussen won a World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) title in 2015 and earned $1.7 million in live tournament earnings throughout his career. He was not only one of the stars of the game but also a well-known contributor to the Two Plus Two forum, helping many other players improve their game.He was also part of the MTT stable "Waffle Crush," which included his close friend Shaun Deeb. Deeb, who called Rasmussen his "first poker friend," posted a statement from Rassmussen's family on Twitter on April 2 that they asked him to share with the poker community. The statement highlighted the impact Rasmussen had on the people around him.
Many poker players have paid tribute to Rasmussen, including Matt Berkey who broke his self-imposed social media silence during his high stakes grudge match against Nik Airball.
