The Main Event of PCA 2015 finally kicked off yesterday with Day 1A. After a couple days of warming up and some players claiming the first seven-figure prizes of the year, the flagship event of the festival got under way.

A total of 220 players gathered to play yesterday, putting down the $10k buy-in for a seat at the table and chips to play with. All of them, of course, are hoping to eventually exchange those chips for obscene amounts of money; but there is a long way to go before that happens.

The field was smaller than expected and we should see a much bigger turnout today, but since the LAPT Bahamas snatched away quite a few players it wasn’t a surprise to see a relatively small turnout for Day 1A of the PCA Main Event.

Alex Millar was one of those who did come to play and he has no regrets as he bagged the chip lead at the end of the day. The UK online pro, better known under his alias β€˜Kanu7,’ finished with a stack of 169k. He is followed by another well-known name, Deni Stern, who will be restarting with 145,200, and Owen Crowe, who is sitting on 121,000.

In fact, the list of top ten players from yesterday contains quite a few big names, as Scott Seiver, Leo Margets, Ole Schemion and Chris Moneymaker all made it through the day with good stacks.

Others who also will continue play, even if not with the top stacks, include sport stars Ronaldo and Fatim Moreira de Melo. Included in the players still alive is the man who won everything there was to win last year, Dan Colman, as well as PokerStars Team Pros Vanessa Selbst and Ike Hexton.

Some of those who took it to the felt but failed to progress include Jeff Madsen, Brian Yoon and Jean-Robert Bellande, just to mention a few.

Considering the relatively small number of players yesterday, it could be quite a crazy house in the Bahamas today, as many of those who couldn’t play because of the other events will jump in, together with those who traditionally prefer later flights, so we could be looking at a really big field today.

There will certainly be no lack of action at the tables today as the battle for the first Main Event title of the year continues in the Bahamas!
