The exciting week of poker continues in Bahamas. PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will name its first big champion for the year 2015 as the $100k Super High Roller event is down to the final seven players and these seven will play down to the winner today.

As predicted, this year’s SHR has broken all the records, with 50 unique entries and 16 reentries, creating the final field of 66. This means that the remaining seven will battle it out for the lion’s share of the $6.4 million prize pool.

Canadian Sorel Mizzi will be starting the final day with the biggest stack of 4.8 million chips, but he will have to face some remarkable competition before he can claim the title. Irishman Steve O’Dwyer has a very workable stack just shy of 3 million; Andrew Robl is still in the mix as well, while Mizzi’s compatriot Sam Greenwood is the official short stack having 700k to work with.

It will be a fierce battle, no doubt, as the winner will take home $1,8725,580, together with the proud title and the $15k Steel and Diamond SLYDE watch. Two players who could have been battling it out today, but fell just short, were Jake Schindler who finished in 9th ($185,600) and Scott Seiver who bubbled the official final table, earning $243,280.

First ever LAPT Bahamas Event

Introduction of the LAPT Bahamas event at this year’s PCA turned out to be a great move by PokerStars. The $3k buy-in tournament attracted 532 unique players (eight of whom didn’t show up to play) and 204 reentries, generating a total prize pool of $1,945,248.

111 places will get paid and the eventual winner will walk away $368,000 richer, which is a very nice return on a three grand investment. There was no lack of familiar faces in the crowd, as Dominik Panka, Jonathan Duhamel and Liv Boeree all took their seats. Football star Ronaldo was also in the mix, but failed to progress to Day 2.

Some 200 players will be coming back today and it was Mukul Pahuja who bagged the biggest stack of 244,400 when it was all said and done. Others who ended the night with a big stack include Jonathan Borenstein and Marvin Rettenmaier.

The turnout of this magnitude surpassed the expectations of the organizers by a long mile, as the number they were projecting as a ‘satisfying’ was set at 250 entries!

PCA Main Event kicks off today

The $10k Main Event will kick off with the Day 1A today, and judging by the numbers coming from Caribbean thus far, combined with the fact that 330 players qualified online, we are likely to see a huge turnout. Some of the qualifiers earned their seats super cheap too, like Laura Garzon from Columbia, who started her path to Bahamas in 2 FPP Rebuy Satellite.

To make it all even more exciting, PokerTube crew is now on the spot and you can look forward to some great interviews in the upcoming days and hours, brought to you by our own Laura and Rikard.
