In case you were unaware, the first ever 24/7 poker network will be launching on October 1 called Poker Central. Despite Poker Central’s aggressive marketing on Twitter and other platforms, and despite getting to meet and chat with Poker Central staff members, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from this network once it launches in the fall. So instead of making assumptions, I went straight to the source. I’m talking about Clint Stinchcomb, the CEO of Poker Central.

Clint was gracious enough to clear some things up about this 24/7 network for those of us interested poker fans. My first question involved the type of programming we should expect, and whether or not it will be original or not. Here is Clint’s response,

It will be interesting to see specifically what will be aired on Poker Central. He didn’t provide specifics shows and events, but he did hint that Poker Central will be televising live events starting in 2016.

“We have plans to air major live events in 2016. Stay tuned for more information on that.”

I do know one of those events won’t be the World Series of Poker since ESPN still has the rights to that event. However, I would expect live coverage of high roller events similar to the Aria Super High Roller Bowl that was produced by Poker Central and Poker Productions.

Mori Eskandani, the legendary poker TV producer, helped produce the Super High Roller Bowl for Poker Central. Mori previously produced events such as the National Heads-Up Championship on NBC and High Stakes Poker on GSN. Therefore, it stands to reason that much of the rebroadcasted programming will be from the Mori Eskandani portfolio, but we shall see.

Poker Central has kept a tight lid on what to expect when the network launches due to contract negotiations, which brings me to my final question for Clint. How can poker fans watch Poker Central?

“Poker Central will be available nationally and internationally at launch. We will be announcing ways for poker fans to watch Poker Central as soon as our contractual obligations allow.”

Unfortunately, I can’t provide specific information about the type of content to expect from Poker Central at this time. As we get closer to launch, I will provide more information about the programming plans and where you can watch this 24/7 poker network. What I do know now is Poker Central has the potential to help increase poker’s popularity and bring the game back into the mainstream, where it was for nearly 10 years following Chris Moneymaker’s WSOP Main Event title.
