PokerStars Announces Partnership With Genting Casinos UK

PokerStars has added another partner to its growing list of collaborations as Genting Casinos UK has joined forces with the industry's top poker site,  allowing players to qualify for live tournaments online.

With 40 casinos under its charge, Genting is a popular name for poker players in the UK. Also gaining popularity has been its Genting Poker Series (GPS). Players can now log onto PokerStars with an aim toward winning a seat to GPS events thanks to the new alliance.

"The link with PokerStars will allow more people to take part in the GPS through the provision of a clear online qualification route,” said Kevin Proctor, who has the enviable role of Genting Casinos UK’s Poker Operations Manager.

The first order of business under the new partnership will be four new PokerStars MEGASTACK tournaments. Each of the four events will feature a £170 buy-in and a prize pool of £25,000 guaranteed, complementing Genting’s current Mini and Main events that offer guarantees of £35,000 and £100,000, respectively.

The success of the GPS until now has not been questioned, but Proctor stated that Genting aims to keep up the momentum by joining forces with PokerStars.

"We’re keen to make sure that we keep things fresh and offer a variety of routes to play," he said, adding that the new MEGASTACK events "will make sure that our players are constantly delighted with what Genting can offer.”

Thumbs Up From Cody

The new relationship was met with a hearty approval from Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody, a top UK poker player whose YouTube vlogs often feature his trips to live tournaments. Perhaps a GPS event will be chronicled in a future vlog of England's 10th all-time winningest tournament player.
