Another network server outage at PokerStars has infuriated a number of its loyal players, marking the second time the site has been down for the count within the last two weeks.

The first outage occurred on Sunday, Sept. 25, wiping out a dozen main events of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), as well as lots of other action. The latest downtime happened on Wednesday, October 5.

The reasons for each outage are completely different. A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack was the cause of suspended action in September, while this week's interruption was blamed on "a failure at one of our primary data centres," according to a statement released by 'Stars.

Whatever the explanation, its downtime all the same, causing some players to question their loyalty to the red spade:

Players become understandably frustrated when outages occur frequently. A natural reaction is to wonder if perhaps the grass is greener at another poker site.

PokerStars' official statement on the matter promised better days ahead:

"We are now working with our data centre provider to understand why this incident occurred. We will then be taking the necessary steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again. PokerStars has been and will continue investing significantly to further ensure our players are not impacted in the future."
'Stars also made note of the fact that no player accounts were compromised. However, players were informed that a scheduled downtime was required for the following day:

All systems are go once again. Let's hope that server outages will be few and far between from here on out.
