PokerStars Unveils Massive $100 Million Guarantee for WCOOP Kicking Off Next Month

PokerStars has announced the dates for this year’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) which will have a record-breaking $100 million guarantee. Next month will see the 20th edition of the most prestigious online tournament series and we expect to see all of the top stars fighting it out for a slice of glory and their place in poker history.

Massive Guarantee

The series will take place on PokerStars from August 22 to September 15, 2021 and at least $100 million will be won. But as we know, that is only the bare minimum and we can expect an incredible nine-figure sum to change hands.

Last year saw an impressive $80 million guarantee but by the time the last hand was played $99.9 million had been awarded in prize money. Surely the record will go this year.

This is quite some increase from the early days when during the inaugural edition only nine tournaments were played with a $730,000 prize pool, and the main event winner only pocketed $65,450.

Last year we saw 1.1 million entries across 75 events and $1.1 million going to the main event winner.
