Registration Open for the European & American Poker Awards Ceremonies

It has been more than a decade that the European Poker Awards have been honoring poker players and those from within the industry. Independent juries and nomination panels are deciding on the majority of award winners. The Player of the Year Award winner is based exclusively from the European players’ GPI Player of the Year leaderboard.

The winners will be chosen from a pre-selected shortlist made by a nomination panel and a final vote from the jury. The nomination panel will consist of 60 plus 80 experts of the poker industry and the live tournament poker circuit. They will include members from the media, casino, tournament directors, sport media, and poker event sponsors. Each member will provide two names for each category.

Some of the categories are:

-Rookie of the Year – our (and everybody else’s) pick: – Dan Colman

- Tournament Performance of the Year - our pick: Martin Jacobson in the Main Event

- Female Poker Player of the Year – our pick: Vicky Coren

- Industry Person of the Year

- Media Person of the Year

- Poker Media Content of the Year

- Poker Innovation of the Year - this is going to be an interesting one (is SharkCage a poker innovation?)

- Event of the Year (buy-in over $2,000) – hard to say but maybe EPT BarcelonaMain Event (due to its festive nature)

- Event of the Year (buy-in up to $2,000) - our pick: WSOP Dealer's Choice Event

- Charitable Initiative of the Year - there's been quite a few initiatives this year, but we'll go with Raising for Effective Giving

The annual poker award ceremony, which will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Malta on the 25th of March, 2015 is limited to 200 people on a first come, first serve basis. The Global Poker Index (GPI) has opened the registration (europeanpokerawards.com/register).

The 14th annual European Poker Awards are being held during the same dates as the first European Poker Tour Malta. The Awards and Poker Summit will be a great celebration of the poker industry. Malta is also a central hub of the European online gaming industry. This event will connect players, media, and poker operators.

American Poker Awards

Poker was born in the United States and it is the largest poker market in the whole world. Still, it has never rewarded America’s top players and its poker industry. The European Poker Awards has done it across the Atlantic. Without a similar ceremony in the USA, a large portion of those deserving poker recognition is missing.

The first American Poker Awards will be held at the SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, on the 27th of February, 2015. The Global Poker Index (GPI) has opened the registration (americanpokerawards.com/register).

The first Awards ceremony and Poker Summit will be held in Los Angeles just a few days after the Oscars and one day before the LAPC World Poker Tour Event. The event will bring together people from the entire poker industry.
