Rene Nezhoda of "Storage Wars" Binks Enjoy Poker Series ME for $70,4551 month ago
Well-known for being a mainstay on the reality TV show "Storage Wars," Rene Nezhoda has a new reality on his resume, that of poker tournament champion after winning the Americas Cardroom sponsored Enjoy Poker Tour Main Event for $70,455.
A friend of ACR, Nezhoda topped 340 entrants in the $1,100 buy-in event held in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Grabbing the lion's share of the $329,800 prize pool certainly wasn't a cakewalk for the 45-year-old, who paid homage to his fellow players.
“I’m exhausted," Nezhoda said. "All eight players (at the final table) were very good. Actually, the last 24 players were all very good. It was hard.”The storage unit buyer and seller had plenty of ACR folk with him in Uruguay as Americas Cardroom sent 21 players to the festival via its Punta del Este promotion. The $5,000 prize packages included the Main Event buy-in, airfare, spending money, and nine nights at the fabulous 5-star Enjoy Punta del Este Resort and Casino.
Topping off the fun was a party with ACR Team Pros as part of Americas Cardroom's 21st Anniversary Celebration.
The Main Event was the headliner of eight days of exciting poker action, with Nezhoda also making a deep run in the $3,300 buy-in NLHE Event #6. His 11th place finish was good for $9,500. However, the Main Event title was worthy of some dedication:
“This goes to my Americas Cardroom family, to the Bargain Hunters family, to the Storage Wars family, my lovely wife, everybody that has been supporting me, and most of all my daughter back at home," Rene said.Prior to his "Storage Wars" days, Nezhoda was a cash game pro in Las Vegas. His paydays at Punta del Este bumped his lifetime tournament earnings to $106,863.
