Poker is all about winning titles and one of the poker community's very own claimed a title recently that required no bluffing whatsoever. The victor also didn't need a stack of chips, but by all accounts there remains no doubt that the winner is very well-stacked.
World Poker Tour Royal Flush Girl Brittany Bell was named 2014 Miss Universe Guam, besting a field of eight and winning the right to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant in January.
Bell, who has been modeling since reaching her 18th birthday, entered in the last year in which she was eligible. The lovely 26-year-old dominated the competition, winning every possible category.
The history of Guam is very deep, and at times it touches my heart so much that I cry," Bell told the WPT blog. "I want to make sure that the island is not overlooked, and by participating in the community and doing something like this I see so many possibilities. What we have on Guam is amazing. I am so proud of my roots.”
Guam is an unincorporated U.S. territory and the largest of the Mariana Islands. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, it's about 1,500 miles southeast of Tokyo and has a population of roughly 165,000.
Bell's resume includes a 2006-2009 stint as a Phoenix Suns Dancer, a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Arizona State University in 2009, and the coveted crown of Miss Arizona in 2010. She will next compete in the 63rd running of the Miss Universe pageant in Miami, Florida on January 25, 2015.
"The World Poker Tour congratulates Brittany on winning this special event, and we wish her good luck representing the people she loves on the international stage!" the blog added.
