As every fan knows, the only thing to match the excitement of a season’s ending is when the new season kicks off - and that’s exactly what’s about to happen with the Online Poker League (OPL) - the world's biggest online tournament league back once again with an even bigger and better set of poker rooms, tournaments and prize funds!

March 1st is the big day for your diaries, when SKY Poker and GUTS poker room get the ball rolling with £250 and €250 cash added free-rolls, all 8 of the rooms kicking things off with season-opener freerolls.

As we’ve come to expect from the OPL, the sites involved are among the best in the poker world, with PartyPoker, Bet365, Betfair, Unibet, Natural 8 and TonyBet all taking part, with some $26,000+ in added value on offer – not including the prize money you can win as standard in each tournament.

OK, for those of you who haven’t been part of the first 4 successful seasons of the OPL, here’s a bit about the whole setup.

How does the league work?

The OPL is run BY poker players, FOR poker players and offers 40 tournaments in the season, 5 each hosted by the various sites.

You can play as many (or as few) as you like as none overlap, but to get your hands on the lucrative leaderboard prizes (an extra $9000 of added value) your top 10 results will count – points from each event making for a thrilling leaderboard race in every season so far.

What are the buy-ins?

Each tournament has a buy-in of between $5.50 and $27.50 (and don’t forget the freerolls!), with double points available for the bigger events, giving you a chance to catch up before the 26th March, when the season finale tots up your points total.

Of course, each event has standard cash prizes and bonus prizes on top, so you could walk off with not only $ but also tournament packages for your wins, as well as the all-important leaderboard points.

Will season 5 be streamed on Twitch?

Yes! Following the success of seasons 3 and 4, Spraggy will be back on Twitch TV to cover all the best of the play in every event.

Streaming has become standard practice for the biggest and best tournaments nowadays, and the OPL wants to recreate that buzz in their offerings too, so every tournament will be streamed live on Twitch TV PokerTube channel with commentary, with every recording posted on PokerTube and YouTube.

How can I join?

Simple! Just Log into the site and add your screen name to the poker room drop down! Don’t have an account on each poker room? Well simply make your new ones here.

Do I need a password for each tournament?

As is normal, the password will be released on the tournament page 48 hours before the event starts, and users must be logged into their OPL accounts to see it. Simple enough, but OPL has a Contact helpdesk if you get really stuck.

Where’s the schedule?

You can check out all the tournaments (and pretty much everything else you may want to know about the OPL) here, including the much-sought after leaderboard prizes here.

So, a new season and new chance to launch yourself into the biggest and best league there is – and you might even get lucky and have to face me, officially (probably) the worst player of seasons 3 and 4!
