Global Poker fans will be looking forward to the return of the Eagle Cup, the recently announced series having 135 Championship events and a guaranteed SC$750,000 in prizemoney, making it one of the most attractive online series for US players…

Starting with a $5k freeroll, and ending with the $100k guaranteed Main Event big bang, the series is looking to build on last year’s inaugural running, the main focus on NLHE, but with PLO, FLHE and No Limit Crazy Pineapple tournaments also included in the packed schedule.

The Eagle Cup Main Event

Last year’s Main Event saw ‘OptimusCreamCake’ win a tense heads-up battle against ‘gatton2019’ – a swollen prizepool of $31,300 will be dwarfed this time round, the guarantee 4 times bigger and likely to attract a host of familiar Global Poker names as well as new ones.

$5k Freeroll Opener

It all kicks off on Sunday September 30th with a $5k freeroll to get players warmed up, the first Championship event appearing the following day, and then we’re looking at 21 days of non-stop action – with buy-ins ranging from as little as $3-30 up to $218 for the $50k GTD Deepstack, and if you want a taste of how that biggie might look, check out last week’s $50k Global Poker Sunday Scrimmage action below…

Champions Packs

A big part of the appeal to many players is the Global Poker ‘community feel’ and touches, for example the Champions Packs which greet every Championship event winner in the big series’ they run.

You get a “ridiculously massive” Eagle Cup Champions Trophy, engraved with your name, and a ‘kit bag’ filled with goodies – Global Poker Merchandise – which generally brings a smile to players’ faces.

Representing Global Poker live

Of course, poker is about winning… and then trying to win again, and this is where the Global Poker approach has gained huge laudits, the site sending their online winners out into the live pokersphere… with huge success to date.

With every previous winner having cashed on their live GP debuts, you’d think they would be scared to change a winning formula, but innovation started the site’s rise towards pole position in the US online poker scene, so it’s not unexpected that they have tweaked this one.

Tournament of Champions

Basically, rather than just the leaderboard winner going straight out to the live event of their choice, this time all the winners and runner-ups will be invited to battle it out in the Global Poker Championships Tournament of Champions.

An exclusive event, the ultimate winner will take down the $5k Live tournament package, and a total of $10,000 worth of added prizes will be handed out during the Tournament of Champions finale.

So, the Eagle Cup is back and set to start at the end of the month, Global Poker promising their Gold Coin Events will be part of it, and you can check out the full Eagle Cup schedule here.
