The casino industry in Las Vegas is one of the most competitive business niches in the world. For that reason it is constantly evolving with continuous refurbs, rebrands, and even new properties popping up every now and then.

Casino reviewers are continually updating information for tourists and locals alike.

The banking crisis from 2008-2010, left many projects starved of cash and ultimately unfinished, but the last decade has seen the city recover from this disaster as well as the Covid-19 pandemic.

So what’s new and what’s coming in the near future in Sin City? Let’s take a look at the the most exciting changes we can see happening right now.

Mirage Bought by Hard Rock International

Hard Rock International is going to be taking over the iconic Mirage resort after paying $1.075 billion to MGM Resorts. This purchase will see the first tribal operator running a casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

This classic property is full of history in the city and fans might be happy to hear that the name will remain for at least three years after MGM announced they would retain the rights but license it to Hard Rock without royalty fees while rebranding plans are finalised.

The Mirage is expected to close before the end of the year and reopen in 2025 with a second property planned for construction in Athens, Greece.

Horseshoe Las Vegas Coming Soon

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) started in 1970 at Binion’s Horseshoe and this was the venue right up until 2005 when the show moved over to the Rio after numbers exploded following Chris Moneymaker’s famous victory in the 2003 Main Event.
After this, the Horseshoe name faded into relative obscurity but now it’s coming back!

Last year saw the WSOP switch to Bally’s and Paris under those names but Bally’s is about to rebrand as Horseshow Las Vegas, bringing the iconic name to the centre of the city and to the biggest live poker festival in the world.

Work began in spring of this year that includes a renovated exterior, new entertainment and more options for bars and restaurants.

Caesars Entertainment Regional President Sean McBurney said in a statement:
“Bringing the Horseshoe brand back to life in Las Vegas allows us to celebrate both our history and our future. 2022 starts a new era for the Caesars Entertainment empire in Las Vegas, one being heralded by the return of Horseshoe.”

Resorts World Las Vegas

Resorts World Las Vegas was recently listed as one of Daniel Negreanu’s favourite places to play poker today. The property is the newest resort in Las Vegas after opening on June 24th, 2021 and growing in popularity fast.

The 3,500-room hotel features a 5,000-seat theatre and 270,000 sq.ft worth of shopping, bars, and restaurants. As for gambling, the 110,000 sq.ft gaming floor is stacked with everything you need.

Resorts World has also become a bit of a go-to location for watching sports events. A 100,000 sq.ft LED screen sits in the west tower where patrons can see big events in comfortable surroundings.

There is obviously much more happening in Las Vegas right now. Anyone who fancies a visit away from the more heavily advertised properties should do some research to find out what’s changing right now.
