The OPL Hits Halfway

Well we’re now halfway through the OPL season, the world’s biggest Online Poker League, and the huge prize-fund plus hundreds of extras and bonuses are still anyone’s to claim – although ‘THEHEADSUP’ has forged head in the race for the $7000 first prize in the leaderboard standings.

His 114 point lead over ‘rseguy’ isn’t that big a gap though, with 100 points available for a win and plenty of events (20 of them actually) still to come! In third spot 'emzAA' is still well in the hunt too – and anyone putting in a strong second half could quickly close in on the $18,000prizepool waiting to be share out on October 31st.

Sites and tournaments

It’s been another tremendous OPL season so far, the league bringing together poker sites such as 888poker, Unibet, TonyBet, Coral, Betfair, Tigergaming, Natural8, Netbet Poker, Betonline and Betvictor under one umbrella to allow players the chance to try out new sites as well as their personal favorites -and share in the $35,000 on offer overall.

With tournaments running every single day throughout October - and with up to $1000 to be won in cash in each event as well as a host of special prizes - next up for the OPL regulars is the €5.50 buy-in, Coral €250 added tonight at 8pm UK time.

It’s a leaguerun BY poker players FOR pokers players – and has really caught the imagination of the players, with an average field of 70 players per event so far – who between them have scooped $10,000 so far.

And the great thing is that because only your 10 best results count towards your final finish, you can join in even though it’s half the way through and STILL get yourself into serious contention with some good play.

Twitching at 350,000 viewers

The most surprising thing to many, so far, is the massive 350,000 views the Twitch streams have had. Partly on the PokerTube FaceBook page, but also on the excellent streams being broadcast by tonkaaaa and spraggy – so if you manage to go deep in an event you can hear what the experts have to say about your play.

Current leaderboard number 1 ‘THEHEADSUP’ is becoming a regular on the streams, his win in the 888 €500-added event being coupled with an incredible eight other final table appearances. ‘rseguy’ in second spot has actually managed three wins in a row, and shows just how quickly you can get yourself in among the big cash spots.

It would also be remiss not to mention the sponsors, who range from individual training websites to the world’s biggest poker and travel companies – who are all offering extra prizes all the way down to 20th spot in each tournament.

And the next event is…

So what’s up next for the OPL players? Well after this evening’s Coral event mentioned earlier, we have a €300-added TigerGaming tournament and Wednesday also sees the Betfair €300-added, one in which I’ll hopefully get into the points this time round

Tigergaming is one of the flagship poker rooms on the ever growing Chico network and is the biggest poker room in Canada while Betfair have been industry favorites for a long time now. The full schedule can be found here.

And if you want to check out the leaderboard standings then here is the place to go.

In it to win it

Fancy joining in the fun and having a go at the big money leaderboard? All you have to do is sign up – ‘in it to win it’ and all that jazz!

It’s pretty simple and straightforward really – just sign up to poker rooms directly via the OPL site, or else OPL partners such as PokerVIP, PokerTube and WeakTight and you’re good to go.

If you are already playing on one of the sites and fancy joining in the OPL excitement just drop them an email. You can check out all the details here. https://onlinepokerleague.com/rules

And that’s about it folks. Hopefully I’ll see you at the tables, but go easy on me please – I need the points!
