The amount of winnings at the centre of controversy in the Phil Ivey/Borgata edge-sorting scandal. Ivey’s deposition to a federal judge in New Jersey this week saw the star claim a ‘booze and babes’ approach by Borgata, designed to gain an edge over players. His lawyers claimed “When Ivey was betting fifty and one hundred thousand dollar hands in baccarat, Borgata was plying him with free alcohol served by only the most curvaceous and voluptuous females in the industry.” This, they say, balances out the edge enjoyed by Ivey and his edge-sorting pro friend Sun.

A record 15th straight month of decline saw profits plunge to $2.3bn in the special administration region of China, partly due to China’s ongoing economic woes which have seen traveller numbers to Macao also dip sharply.
