The amount of winnings at the centre of controversy in the Phil Ivey/Borgata edge-sorting scandal. Ivey’s deposition to a federal judge in New Jersey this week saw the star claim a ‘booze and babes’ approach by Borgata, designed to gain an edge over players. His lawyers claimed “When Ivey was betting fifty and one hundred thousand dollar hands in baccarat, Borgata was plying him with free alcohol served by only the most curvaceous and voluptuous females in the industry.” This, they say, balances out the edge enjoyed by Ivey and his edge-sorting pro friend Sun.

With the final table due to convene this coming Tuesday, WinStar ambassador Maria Ho will be hoping it’s 6th-time lucky at her favourite event. Last year’s winner Jason Helder backed up his win by taking down a WPT title shortly afterwards.

The victory jumped Kanit to top of the all-time Italian money-winner’s list and continued a red-hot year for young man who has recently moved to London after becoming bored with Malta, the island he moved to after Italy regulated online play.

His protests surfaced on the 2+2 forum where he alleges he was the victim of angle-shooting by a local, supported by a partisan manager at the casino which was also playing host to the EPT.

The reported fall in Macao’s gaming revenue over the month of August. A record 15th straight month of decline saw profits plunge to $2.3bn in the special administration region of China, partly due to China’s ongoing economic woes which have seen traveller numbers to Macao also dip sharply. The region sees the Macau (also known as Macao) Poker Cup begin this week.

The number of hands of heads-up play in yesterday’s WPT Legends of Poker event final table. With Freddie Deeb looking to equal the record of 3 WPT titles, it was Mike Shariati who killed off his dreams when his QQ held up against Deeb’s K10 after a marathon battle. Shariati lifted the trophy and $675,942 at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles.
