It was the win of a lifetime for recreational player Thomas 'tdubz224' Walters when he scooped $21,617 in Global Pokerā€™s Sunday Scrimmage, taking down the SC$100k guaranteed weekender ahead of a field of 577 other runnersā€¦

ā€œThis is by far the biggest win of my career,ā€ an ecstatic ā€˜tdubz224ā€™ told PokerTube, and for the recently married poker rec the huge win couldnā€™t have come at a better time, explaining the couple have ā€œjust bought a house in the past six months, so this is really helpful for my wife and meā€.

Helping Thomas and the other prizewinners along was the fact that the guarantee of the Sunday Scrimmage was smashed, $115,600 in cash prizes handed out by Global Poker, cementing the site as the go-to place for US-based recreational players and grindersā€¦

ā€œI have made the final table of the Sunday Scrimmage two times beforeā€, said Thomas after his victory, going into the final table as chip leader as you can see above, and emerging triumphant from a long, tough battle.

His previous deep runs ā€œwere the SC$50,000 guarantee onesā€, he explained, adding: ā€œTo get the win in the SC$100,000 guarantee is amazing!ā€

The Global Poker site has a community approach to everything it does, and Thomas is just one of thousands who have turned to the site as a way to improve while topping up their day-job salaries, or make the step up from amateur to pro.

As with many recs, Thomas ā€˜tdubz224ā€™ loves poker ā€œfrom the bottom of my heartā€, adding:

ā€œThis win has really motivated and invigorated me to keep working harder and longer at my game and to leave nothing on the table. I would love to see just how far my poker journey can goā€.
ā€œWinning the SC$100,000 Scrimmage meant the world to me,ā€ he continued, telling PokerTube: ā€œI have played poker my whole life and have tried to get more serious at it over the past year."
