An amazing comeback at the 2019 Masters by Tiger Woods last month was the talk of the sports world. In the world of poker, Tiger wasn’t able to duplicate the feat, falling victim to Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

With Phil Hellmuth serving as emcee at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the annual Tiger Jam Poker Night, Woods shoved all-in pre-flop with big slick. Westbrook, however, had the edge with pocket queens.

The first flop card displayed by the dealer was an ace, giving Tiger top pair and brief cause for elation. But the very next card was a queen, connecting Westbrook with a set and turning Tiger’s elation to despair.

Woods was eliminated from the tournament, but not before he and Westbrook had a good laugh. After all, Tiger Jam Poker Night presented by the World Poker Tour is a charitable event, raising money for the TGR Foundation, Tiger’s very own charity that benefits underserved students in pursuit of higher education.

Celebrities came out in full force for the event that included a performance by Janet Jackson. Also part of the gala was an auction of sports-related memorabilia. The opportunity to serve as Tiger’s caddie was among the items to bid on.

Dan Shak won the tournament, but more importantly, a night of fun contributed to a worthy cause.
