A recent interview with Tom Dwan was quite illuminating with regard to a number of issues such as the game of Short Deck Poker and how "durrrr" views himself in the world of poker.

Dwan sat down with Peter Latham at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Jeju and answered a few questions about poker and his life. Perhaps most surprising is that Dwan said that he didn't know that poker fans are consumed by what he does both on the felt and off.

Latham:Tom, are you even aware that the poker world seems to be obsessed with your every movement?

Dwan:I didn’t know the the poker world was obsessed with where I am.

Die-hard poker fans certainly are obsessed with durrrr and have been since he burst onto the scene in the mid-2000s. A simple peek at some of the comments in response to the video interview are quite telling in that regard as posters stated things like "Absolute legend of the game!!!!" and "Watching him on High Stakes Poker inspired me to play."

While Tom may not be cognizant of his full impact on other poker players, he is aware that players are getting better at Short Deck Poker. He stated that he was learning Six Plus Hold'em about three years before most everybody else and enjoyed some very profitable sessions before players began catching up and understanding the optimal moves to make in key situations.

Short Deck Poker is a game that durrrr obviously loves, despite having a brutal go of it on the tournament tables at the current Triton Series where he dumped five bullets to no avail in one particular event.

Dwan also mentioned that poker will always be a part of his life, but that he envisions a future where the game isn't his primary focus. That may be bad news for obsessed poker fans, but nothing lasts forever, right?
